Tensar® InterAx® Geogrids
With so much new construction happening these days and no signs of it slowing down anytime soon, along with it comes an increased demand to build infrastructure faster, more economically, and with more sustainable materials and methods. That said, costly delays and strained budgets don’t have to be the norm. With the Tensar® InterAx® geogrids, our customers are able to speed construction and save up to 70% in aggregate section reduction. Providing the most advanced geosynthetic made for trafficked surfaces and foundations, InterAx geogrids are ideal for subgrade stabilization, pavements, and working platforms.
What are Tensar InterAx geogrids, and how do they work?
Geogrids were invented by Tensar in the late 1970s and are a category of geosynthetic material that can be used to provide the functions of reinforcement, stabilization, and filtration. They are the most advanced and best performing geogrid developed by Tensar. With applications in rail trackbed, road foundations, pavement layers, and other high trafficked areas, the optimized geometry of these geogrids help to improve confinement of granular particles and create a highly stabilized layer that can stand the test of time.
The geogrid is manufactured from a coextruded, composite polymer sheet, which is then punched and oriented. The resulting structure consists of continuous and non-continuous ribs that form openings called apertures in three geometries: hexagon, trapezoid, and triangle. These allow aggregate to strike through and provide confinement, interlock, and superior strength and rigidity. InterAx provides the best performance and best value of any other Tensar geogrid available, and we’re proud to provide this revolutionary geosynthetic material to our ADCO customers.
What are the main benefits of InterAx geogrids?
InterAx geogrids provide the highest performing geogrid for effective soil stabilization to solve civil and site construction challenges throughout the industry. Benefits of this amazing material include:
- Improved traffic capacity of unpaved roads
- Reduced construction costs and carbon footprint
- Optimized geometry for the maximum confinement of granular fill, which creates the most efficient stabilized layer
- Advanced material science to improve compaction and restrict movement of soil over time, retaining the stiffness for long term and enhancing performance and stability
- Reduced road thickness while maintaining trafficking and distributing the load over a larger area over time
- A more resilient solution for withstanding severe weather, increased impact of global climate change, and many other challenging environmental conditions that can affect soil stability
- Superior performance across a broader range of aggregate types and gradations, offering more flexibility for your aggregate choice
Bottom line, InterAx geogrids provide greater value compared to other stabilization technologies, including biaxial and triangular aperture geogrids and chemical stabilization.
What sets Tensar geogrids apart from other geosynthetics?
There are dozens of geogrids and other geosynthetic products on the market today. So how do you know which is right for your project? The keys are proper design and testing to validate performance. Tensar geogrids have been tested extensively to ensure long-term performance and value. We understand your reputation is at stake any time your stamp is used on a design. That’s why we’ve thoroughly invested in research and testing for all geogrids, so you can rest assured you’re working with proven technologies for your project.
How resilient are InterAx geogrids?
The Tensar geogrids are 100% UV resistant and will not rust, leach, or break down in direct sunlight. We tell our customers that they can count on a higher-performing longer-lasting solution for future generations to enjoy.
